Beenleigh Reserve Red

Tasting notes

Style: - Sophisticated and stylish

Colour: - Dark ruby red.

Nose: - Pronounced grape and green pepper aromas.

Palate: - Red and black fruits, balanced by softer fruits and new oak.

Wine making

Grapes are grown with the protection of polytunnels at Beenleigh Manor Vineyard. They are harvested in late October and brought straight up to Sharpham where they are crushed, destemmed and put into specially designed tank to ferment on their skins. During fermentation, the wine is regularly ‘pumped over’ (a term given to submerging the cap in the tank that is formed when the wine begins to ferment). After fermentation, the grapes are pressed to extract the wine before being transferred to French or American Oak.

Food notes: - Ideal with red meats and Italian food.

Aging: - This rare wine has the ability to age for up to ten years in cellar conditions.

Awards:

(Highlights)

Four times winner of the Bernard Theobald Trophy for Best Red Wine at the English and Welsh Wine of the Year Awards and numerous medals.

South West Vineyards Association winner of three Trophies, three Gold, five Silver, one Bronze and two Highly Commended Awards.

Three days cold maceration followed by fermentation on the skins has resulted in a beautifully deep, garnet coloured wine. It is aged in oak barrels giving a firm structure, which is balanced by vibrant, rich, black fruit flavours.
